New DBGallery web site
Excellent IPTC support! Recognizes existing IPTC data as photos are added. Automatically saves data to files and DBGallerys database. Edit data for many photos simultaneously. IPTC data as you wish!
I was a key player in putting together this new site for GRR Systems and thought I'd say a few things about what I love about it.
Well, first of all I love the new colors. No, seriously, the new site looks much more appealing and is easier to navigate. We've tried to improve the way information about DBGallery is presented to users by pinpointing the most important facts about the software itself as well as providing separate pages describing particular features for those who want more details. The greatest change, however, was shifting to more interactive user experience. One can register to add content, participate in forum discussions and post blog entries — all using the same web site account.
I also need to get a bit technical and mention that at the heart of it all are modern web technologies that among all separate content from design thus enabling search engines (including site's own search function) to produce more relevant results, making overall user experience better again!
Working with GRR Systems team is fun and hopefully we came up with something to match the quality of the application itself.

DBGallery has fairly simple table structures. A script could easily be written to copy data from your tables to DBGallery's. For example: Description is a varchar in StdAttrs. Copyright is a varchar in ImagesIPTCMetadata, as are about 30 other IPTC attributes. Any tool you might currently be...

I like the new look and feel of the site too. The colours are attractive, the text is easy to read, the content is not cluttered, and it is very user-friendly. Well done!
The use of web application
The use of web application frameworks can often reduce the number of errors in a program, both by making the code simpler, and by allowing one team to concentrate on the framework while another focuses on a specified use case. In applications which are exposed to constant hacking attempts on the Internet, security related problems can be caused by errors in the program. Thanks.
